Has anyone seen Ruby Sparks? I have thoughts, and also some rage, and would love to talk to someone about it. I wish I could recommend it - it is well-written and thoughtful and has some great performances but it has one big gaping hole that it refuses to address that I think is a moral lack, big time (on the part of the filmmakers, not the characters). And so I can't really recommend it to anyone who is female or cares about anyone who is. Watching it at the same time that I was reading Caitlin Moran's How to Be A Woman (not literally, I mean, just in the same day) was a bit of a mind-trip.

Your main fandom of the year?
Looking back at past entries, it looks like hockey RPF for the first 2/3s and Teen Wolf for the last third.
Your favorite film you watched this year?
Battleship. Seriously, it was awesome. One of the best OTT and unashamed action movies I've ever seen.
Your favorite book read this year?
You know, nothing immediately comes to mind, which is depressing. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction, though, and that doesn't tend to stick in my brain as an emotional experience that much.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Is there a way to tell when you downloaded something from iTunes? There are some things that came out in 2011 but I don't think I bought them until 2012. Mumford & Sons' new album is excellent. Also The Civil Wars' Barton Hollow, and Glen Hansard's solo album.
Your favorite tv show of the year?
Teen Wolf.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Teen Wolf, although in the last month or so I've been really enjoying Beauty and the Beast.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Maybe Justified, because although I watched it I didn't think the most recent season was as good as previous ones. Maybe Supernatural because I haven't even seen season 8 because season 7 just didn't draw me in. Was also blah about White Collar and Leverage.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
That one moment in Battleship. You know the one, with the old dudes and the Missouri.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
Project Runway, in a certain fashion (ha). I was never really in the fandom per se; I watched for the clothing construction porn. I'd been dissatisfied with the more "reality show" elements for several seasons but the last season (second to last now, I think) they really screwed the pooch as far as gaming the results and insulting their audience, so I don't watch it any more, at all.
Also, The Sing-Off - I was so bummed that they didn't get renewed.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I'm not really sure.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
There were a bunch of great-looking previews when we saw The Hobbit the other day - a lot of new scifi movies are coming out, which makes me very happy. Also, new season of Justified, more Beauty and the Beast, more Teen Wolf. I, unlike my Trek-geek DH, liked the Star Trek reboot, so I'm looking forward to Into Darkness.
