morning thoughts

Nov 26, 2007 06:43

I've been up and about since 4:30 this morning, due to a migraine that left me asleep for much of yesterday. It feels strange to have all this quiet time in the dark before the rest of the world wakes up. moneysocal, my brother, and my mom do it every day.

Speaking of my brother, I put up a new update from him this morning.

Thursday's Thanksgiving celebration with my family was somewhat traditional and normal with food, friends, and games. On Friday, however, some folks from Debbie's Bible study group got a room at the Gaylord Palms and invited me up to celebrate the holiday with them. Room, schmoom! It was a deluxe suite on the eighth floor with a double balcony overlooking the massive atrium. What a fantastic view! In the suite itself were several large rooms including a full dining room, a kitchen, and a comfy living room. Room service brought us plates and silverware and glasses to use for our feast, and while we dined, we threw open the balcony doors and listened to a Christmas concert going on in the atrium -- the acoustics were perfect! Also that evening, we went ice skating on the small rink that Gaylord Palms has put up in the parking lot, a great experience except for the fact that we had to use yucky hockey skates instead of figure skates.

There go the birds! There's the morning's first light!

We watched Evan Almighty together in our suite at the Gaylord Palms. A surprisingly nice film, I thought! I preferred it to Bruce Almighty, which was all comedy and no lesson. Although cheesy, Evan was good clean fun and gave me stuff to think about. On Saturday, I continued the movie marathon with The Mistress of Spices, a bizarre Indian "artsy" film, and Prince of Egypt, a good ol' favorite of mine. It went along well with my current reading of Exodus.

Random message I got on a survey website (emphasis my own): "Please not that if you do not read and respond thoughtfully to all questions or attempt to complete the survey in an unreasonable amount of time, you will not be eligible to receive your incentive." *scratches head*

There is something on my Friends Page that absolutely freezes Firefox -- and my Google desktop sidebar -- for any amount of time from a minute to five minutes. What is going on, computer?!
