storing treasure
"Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:20-21)
This verse has also had new significance for me over the last week. Jesus, speaking in these verses, promises that where there is an investment of treasure -- money, emotions, time, any resources really -- the heart will follow.
When I started spending time with my Babcia a little over a year ago, I started investing my treasures in her. Gas money, time, sleep, emotions, safety of my fingers when brushing her teeth, etc. And because of that, my heart eventually followed. Now? I love her and miss her in a sense. I would have never said that before!
I love how God works this out. It's encouraging to know that, if you are diligent to act righteously, eventually your heart will follow. It applies in so many ways.
