My friend
Niki is here for a two-week vacation, and I am really enjoying having her! It's fun being the "host" to someone's Florida trip, just like my parents used to do for their friends when I was a little girl. We cohabit nicely, which -- as I learned from a previous guest -- is something huge!
Niki's working at Disney on several days, other days she accompanies me to work at the Holy Land, and there are a couple that we're both taking off work and enjoying together with some sort of outing. Yesterday, we went to
Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales. I love that place! If my wedding is in Florida, Bok is absolutely my first pick.
This picture? It's proof that people really do melt in 100 degree weather! I purchased a big bottle of
Glaceau SmartWater for the outing, however, and drinking it during the day made a huge difference in how I felt after all the sun exposure. I was really amazed by the stuff!
Relaxing in the grass at Bok, I started reading
Money, Possessions, and Eternity by Randy Alcorn. Totally drawn in. Wow. It is convicting stuff, even for someone like me who thinks she's doing "fine" with stewarding God's money. Wow.
On the way back, we stopped at
Spook Hill, of course! But also,
Webb's Candy, a Central Florida landmark from the 1930s. They're known by their billboards up and down I-4 advertising goat milk fudge. I bought some, and boy! So good. So good.
At a brief Walmart stop, there was a guy with a
MS-13 tattoo in line ahead of us at the checkout. A little startling, as it's my first MS-13 sighting in Central Florida.
Anyway, you'll find some of my favorite shots from the day behind the cut-tag, but there are more pictures on my
Facebook.
