the simpsons movie

I just got out of The Simpsons Movie, and my boy moneysocal over here is jumping up and down to find out what I thought about it. Whaaaaat? No special privileges! He'll have to wait his turn just like everybody else.

It's not that I didn't enjoy the movie! I did. But really, it's just 87 minutes of The Simpsons without commercial interruptions. No special flash and dazzle, just good ol' comfortable Homer and family ... on a super-huge giant screen! The sound was great, my seat was the best, and ... yeah. I like that Flanders may be fundamentalist, but he's always going to be kind and loving. I like that Marge and Homer may have serious spats, but their marriage vows always hold. And I like how Lisa's one-person-at-a-time approach to environmentalism is always the approach that succeeds in the end.

The movie started with an episode of Itchy & Scratchy, a lot more potty humor than what you'd find in the TV show, and some deeper-than-usual digs at religion. That all disappointed me for about ten minutes. And then we were into the meat of the film and it was okay.

See if you don't start hearing this one on the streets in the next couple of weeks ... "I was elected to lead, not read." Say it like Schwarzenegger. Hahahahaha!
