This morning on my way to work I almost hit a dog.
A little brown dog ran out in front of my car. I hit the brakes and swerved to miss it. After I got to work I cried.
Drove all the way to the school district only to find that everyone was gone or in the process of leaving. Jason and Doug were just heading out the door for some honors banquet the district does every year. If I'd been five minutes later, I'd have been locked out of the office as I don't have a key.
My aunt was already at the middle school where the banquet was being held. She couldn't bother to call me and tell me about this so I'd either not come in at all or arrange a time to get there so I'd be sure to get into the office.
I was so pissed at her--still am a bit, actually--I could hardly contain my irritation on the way home.
I only stayed until 3:30 or so because I didn't really feel like being there alone. And I was angry, so that didn't help.
This isn't the first time she's done something like this to me. Last summer there was a power outtage over there and she didn't bother to call me to let me know not to show up. So I drove over there, wasting my time and gas, only to get there and find a sign on the door letting me know the building was closed because there was no electricity (no work but worst of all, no air conditioning in July). That was a Thursday and she never called me the entire weekend to apologize. In fact I didn't get an apology from her until the following Tuesday when I came back to work--and her apology was AFTER the one from the boss, who said she'd wished she had my phone number so she could have called me.
How hard would it have been to call me today or last night and let me know I didn't have to come in?
Whatever. It's just typical. Typical of my family.

I need to write again. I haven't written anything since I finished my CW class and I need the practice.
Got an email from a prospective apartment in Springfield. It's actually a "townhome" with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. You can have pets, so Bentley could come live with me or at least visit. The rent also includes free high speed internet and free expanded basic cable with HBO. Not bad. They're new units, too, and are very nice looking.
I need to get on that, though. Looking for a place to live, I mean. Need to get something settled ASAP. I hate not knowing things. Drives me crazy to not have things nailed down.
Need to catch up on sleep, so I'm out of here. Night.
