Germany vs. Australia

Jun 13, 2010 23:42

So we won, 4:0. I was out for public viewing with friends and the game was nice to watch, but strangely, I don't feel hyped up after it at all. Might be because I've started getting nightmares about all the things that need to be done before I leave for the U.S. and this weekend wasn't exactly top notch for my working result, that really pulls me down.

But yes, the game. I don't think we played well enough to justify four goals and really, the ref was stupid. I don't know what he think he saw sometimes, but especially that red card against Cahill (was it?) just wasn't okay. That was yellow at the most but never red, so I really felt sorry for what Australia unjustly had to go through. I actually wanted them to at least have what in German we call "Ehrentor" which would be "honor goal", a goal to make sure that you don't go off the field with your honor crushed because you at least had one goal, but my friends were agaisnt it. ^^''

Well, our center forward Miroslav Klose at least managed to break his phase of inability to shoot goals which is great because after his goal, his self-confidence sky-rocketed and I could actually see him jogging on the field while before he more like crawled towards the ball. So, good thing, really, he's back again. :D But... Gomez. T_T I really, really don't know why our trainer took him to South Africa with the team, that guy wasn't any good in the German League and he wasn't any good during the Europe Cup two years ago, and - as we've seen today, surprise, surprise - he's still not any good now. We're basically crying whenever we see him warming up. Today was okay because we were four goals ahead, but still, he's got a serious ball allergy! Whenever he touches it, it miraculously becomes lost to the opponents or avoids the goal like the plague. -.- With that secret skill, he should've become keeper.

Aish. But, well, there are good players as well. :D Our Captain, for example, he's a great one. :D Short, but he's such a reliable player, even in the League, and calm and intelligent as well. Without him, we'd have some serious problems because he does great in defence. Or the two young ones we got this year, midfield players with some kickass skills, Özil and Marin. God, if only they'd have given Marin more balls after he came on field in the second half, he'd have whirled through to the Australian goal in no time. ^^

Stopping with the soccer rant now. >.
