Everything's so SHINY!

Well, as most of you know, I found out a week ago Wednesday that I needed glasses. It's a very slight prescription, but it was enough to drive me nuts. I was actually relieved to find out that I needed them, mostly because when I read, words will switch lines or letters will look like other letters.

Well, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for that - I'm farsighted with astigmatism. The doctor said that some people wouldn't even get glasses for a prescription this minor, but my left eye is worse than my right (which is why words move around on me) and I want to be able to read normally again. And see street signs that are nice and crisp and clear. I guess I'm just weird that way.

I got them back last night and immediately I was going "Whoa!" I didn't think there would be this much of a difference, but there is. All last night, as soon as I got them, I was walking around giving my mom a running commentary of what it was like.

Me - "Wow! The colors are actually a little brighter!"

Mom - "That's because they're not fuzzy anymore."

Me - "My depth perception is a little off..."

Mom - "You're not driving home."

Me - "This is AMAZING! I didn't think it would be this different."

Mom - "Yup. Did you know the trees actually had individual leaves?"

Me - *giving her a look* "My vision wasn't THAT bad."

It went on like that for a while. She was remarkably patient with my giddyness, laughing when I said, "It's like someone windexed my vision." Bob's response to that was "Really? You mean we could have just pulled out a bottle of Windex and used that instead?"

Right.

He's a riot. Really.

Oh! Sean called again and he's all better. Apparently they treated it so aggresively at the ER that it went away over a couple of days. The thing my mom is worried about is that they didn't do a thorough job of figuring out what it was. (She had bad experiences with Air Force docotrs being negligent when she was growing up.) I'm not too worried because Sean (as much of a goon as he is about doctors) will not let them pull something like that on him. He's a pretty intelligent, REALLY determined guy. If it comes back again, they said they'd send him to a cardiologist in St. Louis.

That's pretty much it for me for now. I'm heading out to Montana weekend after this one. *shudders* If I don't stop stressing, I'm gonna get an ulcer.

Off to read fan-fic, then! (It's such a wonderful distraction.)
