After a day of contacts, my right eye now looks like
this.
I don't know what my problem is. I wash my contacts obsessively! I want lasik.
Work was good today, because, well, I actually had work. I didn't know how I would like translating things I find boring, but I realized that hard documents are fun because they're challenging. For the same reason, I might enjoy English to Japanese more than I thought.
Also I agreed to take part in the
Shan Shan Festival coming up this weekend. This is kind of bad, because I only have 2 more practices before the real thing and I do not learn dances that quickly. Today one of the veteran women was training me one-on-one and I think I can handle two of the dances, but the third one is really beyond me. It's going to be a shit show! A four hour (yes, you read that right) shit show. But I'm only one of like 2000(?) dancers, so....
Apparently as long as you smile and look like you're having fun, that's enough? I'm good at that!
In more random news, it appears that business trips are going to be a big thing for me. I did not expect this, but I like it. Not because I particularly enjoy traveling or airplanes but because it will be tremendously nice to get to go back out into civilization on a regular basis.
So Vermont at the end of September is pretty much a sure thing now.
Korea in September is sounding less and less likely, but I haven't given up hope.
If I'm lucky, New York in October. Really really reaaaaaaaaally hope they pick me.
In November, I will be back in Tokyo for a little bit for a CIR conference.
Planning to spend New Year's in Yokohama.
In March, I'll be going back to Vermont.
