Sticky rice
2 cups sweet rice (180g)
2 cups water [used rice-measuring cups, probably needed more]
2 Taiwanese-style sausages, diced
4 dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked and then sliced
3 T dried shrimp, soaked
1/4 red onion, diced
fried shallots
1 T graded ginger
2 T olive oil
2 T soy sauce
1 T sesame oil
some black pepper
1) Soak the sweet rice in water for about 3 hours. [Hmm. Did not do. But was not huge problem.] Transfer to rice cooker.
2) Soak mushrooms and shrimp for at least 30 minutes.
3) Heat 2T olive oil in a saucepan or wok on high heat. Add the onions and sautee until they're yellow/fried.
4) Add the sausage, mushroom, shrimp, and ginger. Stir. Add fried shallots.
5) Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, some pepper. May need to lower heat. Cook until sausage is done.
6) Pour ingredients in wok into rice cooker, mix well. Add the 2 cups of water (should be enough to cover).
7) Cook in rice cooker.
Makes 4-6 servings.
Didn't put enough water in first time, so ended up having to put more and try to steam the rest under "keep warm." After leaving it be for about 45 minutes most of it was fine, though. Maybe soaking the rice in the beginning would have done it? The 味加減 was perfect, though!
Tomorrow I am making salmon♪
I watched Mei-chan no shitsuji and started Uta no oniisan today. Mei-chan might actually be a little too catty for me. I only see bad things happening. Because I'm a wimp I think I'll just read the manga :x It is such a strange mix of Hana yori dango and Hanakimi. Eikura Nana seems like she is doing a really good job, though.
I am really enjoying Uta no oniisan so far. I wonder why Ohno looks so tan. I hope this will be my fluffy brainless drama this season.
