I have the most incredible affinity for sun. I joked about it before, but I have yet to be rained on while touring despite how many now, 14 straight reports for rain. We docked for 3 days in the bay of Hanga Roa on Easter Island, and the day we weren't able to disembark safely was the day I was scheduled to stay on the boat.
Easter Island was good, but it wasn't a discovery, it didn't leave anything with me. Learning about its history was interesting, and heavy -- I think it has a message for the world -- but what you see is environmental devastation and a fragmented culture and people who are clinging to the past. It was fascinating and beautiful, still, but it isn't a place I am adding to my list to visit again.
Anakena beach was really beautiful, though! If I'd had the time to walk into the water, at least.
Also I paid $9 for the best brownie of my life. $9!!!
