I went to Sendai this weekend!
Our schedule:
Friday night, 23:40 bus from Tokyo to Sendai station
Saturday, 04:50 arrival & McDonald's morning strategy meeting
- train to
Matsushima (Godaido, Fukuura Island, Zuigenji Shrine, tea at Kanrantei, lunch at Sushi-kou)
- back to city, pictures at
OWSON- ichibancho arcade, tea at Tamazawa souhonten
- Sendai castle ruins
- dinner at Date no
gyutan (beef tongue!)
Sunday
- 9:30 bus to Akiu hot springs
- Rush to Saichi supermarket for their
famous ohagi - Day plan at Sakan (lunch, gift shopping, 2 baths)
- shuttle back to Sendai city, station gift scramble and off to the Shinkansen
Highlights:
it's almost tanabata in Sendai! we saw lots of these everywhere
the pedestrian tollbridge to fuukura island was quiet and beautiful
from a viewpoint on fukuura island, the rest of the matsushima islands
dinner at date no gyutan
So happy with this trip! We were rushed a bit at several places to catch trains and whatnot, but considering how little planning I did and how last minute it all was, everything came together great. I just need to get more sleep now for the week and start thinking about where I want to go next.
