this week is a whirlwind

Yesterday, dim sum in Chinatown with Amy. Our second shot at this, and we tried this restaurant. The menu was pretty limited for my tastes, but it was still more than enough and really cheap and we ate a ton. The xiao long bao was delicious.

I've been wary, and with her it's easy for bad associations to come up, but I genuinely enjoyed the time and I felt better about my relationships here (at least this one). I've made something, I've gained something.

We went to this restaurant the first time months ago, and it was really good in terms of variety.

I went to get my visa renewed today at immigration. 300+ people ahead of me, four hours of waiting. I'm cleared for another 3 years and I have a residency card now.

After that fun experience, I went to my first rakugo show ever. Great idea. So, so fun, and so much more appreciation for rakugo. Not to mention the venue was literally next door to our office.

The rakugo-ka (comic storytelling is a good translation, I think) did the first part in English and followed it with Japanese. Even with a heavy accent, his story was great -- the delivery, the voice, the expressions... all without leaving his zabuton, all with only his fan and towel as props. I remain impressed!

I don't have any breaks this week -- every day a new person or thing. Tomorrow I'm going swimming, and the night bus tomorrow. Got to get sleep!
