5x11 The X in the File

It almost slipped my mind but I haven't said anything yet about last week's ep, The X in the File. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't click!

First off, I liked the episode fine. That was not why I forgot. The X-Files tie-in was irrelevant to me, sorry. I've been around the block a few times so i remember that show's run. Still, at the time, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was my favorite show, no competition. I guess I'm still a bit aggrieved about X-Files getting all those mainstream, i.e., non-science fiction, awards (Emmys, etc.) while DS9 lingered in its SF ghetto. But enough about that... As often is the case lately, the B&B interaction provided the high notes in the episode. The stargazing end was esp. heartwarming.

They are so cute together. Brennan is so visibly attracted to Booth. She is taking his feelings into consideration, making a real effort anyway-something she doesn't really do with anyone else. She is also relaxing around him, letting down her defenses, allowing herself to have fun once in a while. She tries to tell jokes, quips back, e.g., saying that, yes, she is an alien sent here to anthropologically study the humans. The photography of this ep was excellent. A few examples:

There were quite a few funny scenes: Hodgins shooting the melon/Wendell, Brennan having to work on flesh, the corpse "levitating" due to the ball-bearing balls-sounds funny, what's the better way to say that?-, Booth arguing with Brennan about the metallic-encased corpse being an alien, Brennan enthusiastically calling the murderer an idiot, etc.

All in all, a very enjoyable episode! One more thing: do check out fiery_twilight's " squeecap," it's a hoot as always!
