Just Bought Tickets

Am well and thoroughly pissed at entire aviation industry. Also, am leaving two days later than originally told supervisor, on account of tickets being even more stupidly expensive on weekends and seats disappearing while I was filling out payment information. Wailing and gnashing of teeth, baby. Well, just so long as I don't end up spending those extra nights in Nishikawaguchi.

On the bright side, the site gave me a vague message about seat availability after I'd paid (I would appear to have booked one of the last three open seats), so there's always a chance I might find myself bumped up to business class on a slightly later flight if overbooking has indeed occurred. I wouldn't mind that at all. I wouldn't mind an altered intinerary that didn't insist on making me go through Houston, either. Or one that gave me more than half an hour between landing in Houston and catching my connecting flight to Tallahassee. Surely domestic connections aren't the nightmare that customs and immigration are, right? Right?

I'm touching down in LA, by the way, which is kind of exciting. Will I be able to count this as my having been to California for ticky-box purposes? But I'm deeply irritated that every effort to make this trip with fewer than three legs resulted in failure or in a few hundred dollars being added to the final price. Bleh.

Tomorrow I get to hit my supervisor up for reimbursement. I think. I have to take off early for a JET function in Aomori City (oh, the layers of crazy surrounding this on my end!), so there's really no telling.

In other news, there are four giant trash bags waiting to go out for pick-up tomorrow. I did rather a lot of cleaning and sorting today.

whinging, wanderlust
