Okay, so they did transfer kyoto-sensi. The new guy was the one who was out with the flu. Our replacement is considerably less manic than the original, but I like him so far. He doesn't speak any English, really, but he speaks comprehensible Japanese and had an extended conversation with me about his trip to Europe and how he wished he'd known some English so that he could have stood a chance of communicating without turning to the pocket electronic dictionary for every word. He strikes me as quietly agreeable, though the lingering effects of the flu might be subduing him somewhat.
Also, I believe he said that our old kyoto-sensei has been trasnferred to Okoppe Elementary, which gives me another reason to whine about never being sent there despite requests from both me and the school. I do wonder where the old Okoppe Elementary kyoto-sensei is now, though. I liked him quite a lot. He gave me cookies and a pony ride.
We will not talk about classes today, except to say that, in the first period of the first day of class of the year, Shouma hit another student three times with a ruler and kicked a chair.
In tangentially related news, I've installed
DOSBox in the interest of making sure I never accomplish anything at work again. While I can't play Day of the Tentacle at work (which is too bad, since the less-than-witty car thief and post-traumatic!Ed are amusing me far, far more than they should), I can still have fun with the most textual sort of games. I also grabbed a couple recommened Inform games to get me back in the mood to make TADS progress. Expect babbling as I make the most of my new toys.
