On Adult Responsibility, My Antipathy Toward

Today it snowed. Those italics are my way of saying that all surfaces were thickly white, the sky was a near-identical shade, fog obscured areas thirty feet away, and there was no breathing without getting a mouthful of flakes. And my first thought on stepping outside and seeing this?

"All right, fog of war! It's nothing but me and my personal arsenal against the hordes of monsters/dinosaurs/undead!"

And, really, after a thought like that, realizing that you have to go to work instead of running around in the woods with a squirt gun full of colored water just sucks.

Another thing that sucks is the new PS2 Altered Beast game, but I don't want to acknowledge this because, as we all know, the original was all that and a platter of fine cheeses. So while the new one is poor even as a "run around destroying stuff" game, has voice acting that hurts my ears, is far too in love with its own transformation sequences, has not-quite-responsive-enough play control, promises exploration only to turn out painfully linear, and generally sucks your joie de vivre out through your thumbs... I want it to be good. I really do. I don't understand why it won't cooperate.

Guess I should have figured it wouldn't be quite right when they changed the set-up from "Rise from your grave" and had a critical lack of Neff, Dark Lord of the Underworld.

By the way, a quick look online reveals that SOA has canned the North American release. You kids aren't missing much.
