Wuthering Films

From a writer's standpoint, one of the more interesting aspects of the 1001 movies list is to see what Hollywood (and others) do with the literary source material - at least when it's something I'm aware of.

There are few books with a higher profile than Wuthering Heights, and it has been adapted to film and very strange musical videos a lot

LOL. Yes, not particularly memorable, I guess.

I never got that whole "Wuthering Heights is a love story of epic, eternal love." Wuthering Heights is about two people who consistently choose other things (ambition, anger, grief) over their supposedly enduring love. It's a story about missed chances, and wrong decisions, and in the end, a tragedy more like Romeo and Juliet than romance.

Precisely! But then again, it takes a certain level of sophistication to identify those issues in the book / movie.

Wuthering Heights has also provided fodder for some rather funny comedic skits.

I can imagine - seen through today's eyes, there is a lot of material there!
