So, after a wonderful - albeit insanely busy - week in New York, I'm home. It's quite a bit colder down here, although today fortunately seems to be shaping up to be relatively warm.
American Airlines decided to cancel my flight back, as well, which meant that (after a considerable argument because they claimed they really couldn't fly due to volcanic ash even though every single other airline in the world was flying here) they eventually booked me on a LAN flight through Peru. This is good because LAN is a much, much, much better airline than AA (more space between seats, better service on board, better food) but bad because I had to go through Lima, Peru which added 6 hours of travel time. I was left with the belief that AA is optimizing profits by using the ashes as an excuse - and anyone else thinking of flying with them should take note.
Other than that, a great time was had by all, the wedding was fantastic, and I got to see a Gutenberg bible and a double-elephant folio of Birds of America at the NYPL (I also did all the touristy stuff, too, with the MoMA and Met being the two best stops).
And a final note: why are Americans in denial about the obvious benefits of bidets? That is one of the few unpleasant aspects of traveling to the US.
Anyhow, please let me know if you did anything interesting over the past week, since I'm waaay bac on blog reading.
