Ice, ice baby...
MELBOURNE IS RIDICULOUSLY COLD!!
(and my left shift key is on the fritz).
So yes I LIVE!!! and got here really safely. I got off the plane and got onto the air bus early Saturday morning and remembered that I don't actually like Melbourne very much. Its a great place to go shopping, and there are some very awesome people here that I love, but apart from that, UGH!
binka_boo's been awesome, as per usual. We've been eating like kings (Roaring Forties on toast for breakfast, anyone? Fish Chowder? Roasted lamb shanks? Swedish chocolate?) and playing with wool, the cat, our clothes, ikea, markets, fabric, movies, the weather, and obviously warcraft. And thats only been two days!
I wasn't a very good guest last night though. We walked too much for my back yesterday and so by the time we got home I was very broken. I ended up spending the entire time Jen constructed her new awesome ikea furniture on the floor staring at the cat and Coupling on the tv, and then after dinner monopolizing most of the couch next to her and going to sleep until we actually went to sleep.
Although, its also possibly that its SO FREAKING COLD in Melbourne that thats also why I constantly want to sleep XD I'm currently still wearing my pjs cause Jen isn't up yet and I'm not sure what we're doing today, but I'm also wearing her slippers, a knitted over coat, an enormous mink blanket, Lorelei and a cat to keep warm. I'm still cold!! *laughs*
Hopefully the conference will be wicked though. I have really high hopes for this year's ADIdeas. Hanging out with Mandy, Gianna & Chris for those days should be a super plus as well. Currently trying to work out how to sneak as much stuff from the conference as possible back to work so that I can share the experience with the other Designer's next Monday morning. Apparently photography isn't allowed. RUDENESS! We're designers, what exactly do you think we're orientated towards?
One Melbourne casualty already! Abi's eyelashes took their final turn for the worst on the way over here, and I had to rip them off once I got to Jen's house. Her top lids look atrocious now! I think I might have to completely redo her face... Atleast you can't see it at the moment, because the wig that I brought with me for her conveniently has a WHOLE lot of fringe... ;)
Hopefully I can work out some kind of doll meet with Melbournites while I'm here, and there's also a very wicked Honorary Tasmanian that I hope to see whilst I'm here too. What's going on, girl? XD
So all in all its shaping up to be a very busy and exhausting week! I can't wait!
(PS: I am so not used to blocks of flats. I keep hearing doors opening and shutting and thinking that random people I don't know are going to come in. REALLY disconcerting, especially when Jen isn't here/asleep)
