Last night I saw one of those polls on Facebook and, against my better judgment I answered it despite its obvious bias. The poll was "Do you think abortion should be legalized nationally?" The answers were "NO" and "Yes" (capitalization as it appeared), and there was a rather vile picture of what I presume was an aborted fetus.
This issue is not as black-and-white as this, and while I may find it personally abhorrent, I also do not have a uterus. Therefore I do not find myself qualified to tell someone who has one what they can do with theirs. I find the idea that the government and/or a group of holier-than-thou people telling someone what they can or cannot do with their own body even *more* abhorrent. It is a PERSONAL CHOICE and, thanks to Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), it is a choice each woman is free to make for herself.
This is one (of many) areas I find myself in total agreement with the current President: Abortions should be LEGAL, they should be SAFE, and they should be RARE.
And this brings me to the other issue I have with that poll: IT IS ALREADY LEGALIZED NATIONALLY. It is the law of the land, folks, and has been for 36 years.
I have since removed that poll from my page. The picture was disgusting and I feel no need to display it to get my message out. All I was doing was feeding the trolls (something I commented to others not to do).
