Austin is getting its own Renaissance Faire!
Sherwood Forest Faire will be opening on February 27th, 2010. They have had several pre-opening gatherings to spread the word, grow the community and to show progress.
The grounds are beautiful - tall trees & cool sandy soil cover acres of land. Construction is coming along - there are a couple of pavilions with some fantastic woodcarving in the posts and beams. Saturday saw the dedication of The Seven Sisters - a circle of standing stones brought in from England. No matter your own religious beliefs, one could not help but be moved.
Come check it out if you can - the next gathering is Saturday, Dec 12th, where they will be dedicating the Maid Marion Chapel.
