Spring Break 2010 - Kansas City, MO. When I think of spring break I imagine sand, sun and fun. My spring break was one of these three and it sure wasn’t sand or sun! Amanda and I spent part of her spring break with her parents and brother in Kansas City, MO this past weekend and it was a blast! Aside from the never-ending clouds, rain & fog the weekend was great!
We arrived in KC Friday evening and proceeded straight to bed; the seven hour drive takes a toll on you. Saturday was a blast! We had lunch at Taco Villa! Woot! TV is such a great little Mexican place! Amanda and I joined up with some of her brother’s friends and made our way to the Power & Light district in KC -an enclosed area in downtown KC full of bars and restaurants; loads of fun if you are with a group of people! Sunday we went to church and got our customary LaMar’s donut afterward. These donuts are by far my favorite! After lunch it rained and clouded up some more so we all stayed inside and watched a few movies. I do NOT recommend renting “Management” with Jennifer Aniston…horrible movie, IMO. Later that evening Amanda and I went to dinner at Spin Pizza with Amanda & Steve two of our amigos in KC. They just had a new baby boy, Miles, so we had the pleasure of seeing him and their newly rebuilt house…I must say that they have a very cute and well-behaved baby!
Monday was another relaxing day. I took a trip to FedEx and Wal-Mart with Amanda’s padre, because he was having some computer issues and needed to send his laptop back to Monsanto to get fixed. I never did hear if he got it back yet…I am hoping so! That evening I think we just stayed in on account of the rain/mist, clouds and cold wind and just watched TV. Tuesday was a lot of fun as well. Amanda’s Dad and I went to a farm near Smithville and sorted seed corn for his test plot this spring/summer. I enjoyed the drive out there and the farmers we met were crazy…especially Josh (one of the farmhands) - I seriously thought he was going to run us over with the forklift.
Aside from all of that the week was pretty calm; I watched TV, played some iPod, slept, ate and enjoyed the company of friends & family.
Though I missed out on the sand and sun this weekend I will definitely be making up for it later this year when Amanda & I head back to Florida (Florida Keys) for our winter vacation!
