The sand burnt his feet, his eyes, and the setting sun was taking from him the last sunrays that had castigated him for so many days, but now would be necessary to save him from the glacial nights of the desert.
“Alf Layla wa Layla”, the wind whispered in his ears.
He could, yet, do nothing about it; the sun was going to set, he had lost his conduction and was now lost, wandering alone in the middle of the big nothing. He was going to die. He sighed, a shaky, sad sigh. So, that was like it ended, huh? He slid down a dune, not caring with snakes or scorpions, and prepared to walk some more...
...but, in front of him, was a huge, golden, majestic rock, laying there like a gold meteor, exhaling a scent of roses and moss-roses.
His mouth hung open. It must be a delusion, he reminded himself. But then, if he was dying, why would it bad to let the delusion take him? He got closer, and closer, and closer to the rock; by the time he was only one meter away from it, it was as tall as a mountain, a big golden mountain. He smiled weakly to himself.
- Junnosuke...
He turned back, startled. It sounded louder than the normal whispers of the wind, almost a real voice... almost playful. Calling his name.
The winded blowed stronger for a moment, entering his ears and mouth as vaporized pepper. “Iftah Ya Simsim”, he heard his own voice sighing, suffocated.
And a loud rumble shook the earth.
Sand was raised, and he got blind for at least half a minute; the rumble seemed to have split the earth in two halves, but, as he soon discovered, the only thing it had done was to open the golden rock, revealing a equally golden and majestic cave.
His breath was caught in his lungs as he stepped forward, a bit afraid.
- Junnosuke...
Again. That whisper just a little louder than the wind itself. He turned his head again, but, as expected, there was nothing; however, when he turned back, two people were in his front, staring at him, scrutinizing him.
One of them was a thin, black-haired man dressed completely in deep red silk tulle and with narrow, playful eyes. The other was considerably taller, and considerably less feminine, wearing such a shiny outfit that it hurt to look at.
- Junnosuke. - The one in red called him, savoring his face expression.
- H-how... who are you? - He looked from one to another. Their bodys didn’t seem to touch the floor. Their clothes and hair didn’t seem to respect gravity. - What is this place?
- The place you’ve always looked for. - The one in shining clothes said, smiling, floating closer to him.
- Welcome, Junnosuke. - He was startled to discover the one in red was much closer than what he imagined. - I’m Kamenashi. But you, - And, to his surprise, Kamenashi kissed him, open-mouthed, slow, and hot like the desert. - You can call me Love.
He was about to protest, to complain, but Kamenashi’s narrow, mysterious eyes erased any kind of resistance he could have, and he just let those hands undress him slowly, caressing his shoulders like velvet.
- Enter, Junno-chan. Don’t be afraid. - The other called him, and he could feel something pulling him in that direction. - See that? - The shiny man pointed, and he saw a big, magnificent, green bed. - It’s where you’ll sleep now. Pure jade with coral details. - The man smile was goofy, but he could point something darker in it. - Covers made with gold threads. Go, you can try it.
He wouldn’t have moved if Kamenashi hadn’t pulled him from the rim of his robe - he was now wearing a robe? Maybe Kamenashi had put it on him while he wasn’t looking - and thrown him on the bed, crawling over him in the process.
- How is it? - The other asked as a salesman, smiling wider. - I’m Nakamaru, by the way. But you can call me Fortune.
As saying these words, Nakamaru snapped his fingers, and a river of gold, silver and jewels showered from his hand, filling the whole floor with it. His eyes grew wider, just like Nakamaru’s smile, which also grew darker.
- Will you stay here, Junno? - Kamenashi was kissing his neck as he sibilated these words, making his body feel hot and comfy under so many caresses. - We’ll give you only the best. You can have us anytime you want to.
- You’ll be richer than any sheik in this world. - Nakamaru added giving birth to a fantastic emerald rose with a gesture of hand, and giving it to him. - You can have everything. Any jewel, even the ones of the size of the moon. Stay.
The last word echoed like the wind inside of that cave. Kamenashi’s hands felt like soft feathers, and Nakamaru’s gold were all over the floor, shining, illuminating irregular dots on his face. He thought of the desert, and what was like being lost and alone in it.
- I’ll stay.
And the two other men smiled widely.
Suddenly, something made him look up, to the golden ceiling. His breath got caught in his throat again.
Right there, standing upside-down like a shadow, as a third person, all dressed in black, staring at him with lively eyes and a wide, playful smirk across his face.
- Welcome to us, Junnosuke. - The man said, and he somehow felt the other two weren’t listening to it. - Hope you like everything we prepared to you. I’m Koki, but, just like Kame and Maru here, I have another name too. - He ascended to him, again seeming to violate gravity. - I’m Darkness. Nice to meet you.
- N-nice to meet you. - He greeted, intimidated. - Please… where is this place?
- This place is the desert. - Koki smiled, and his smile had nothing of happy or reassuring on it. - It’s where most people who are lost, just like you, come. Isn’t it a nice place? Don’t you want to stay?
- Ah, yes… yes, but… - He hesitated, suddenly. Why, why wasn’t it a good feeling?
- So take my hand. - Koki offered the said limb, looking directly into his eyes.
And, somehow, he wasn’t able to say no.
In the moment he took Koki’s hand, it felt cold, and it was suddenly darker. From Koki’s back, two giant black wings were born, and he could smell sulfur as a loud, malign laugh stained in blood filled the whole cave. He could still see, in a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds and smells, Koki’s smirking lips mouthing slowly to him: Abracadabra.
“Alf Layla wa layla” was the last thing the wind whispered in his ears before the sand covered his head and he got deeper and the deepest with the golden cave.
