Three days. I was gone three days. Three days and he jumps into someone else's bed, my own brother's bed.
My own, God-damn brother. Charlie... always wanted what I wanted. Always had to get what I had. Never really could get his own, always had to take mine.
Anger swelled within Don, along with hurt and a feeling he couldn't describe.
He took a step away from the barely open door and slid down against the wall He hadn't seen exactly what was going on in the room, but he had definitely heard... hell, he was still hearing grunts and moans and Hell, he had to get away from here.
With a tight squeeze of his eyes to hold back the wave of emotion ready to make itself shown, he pushed himself up and made a silent descent down the stairs.
He could still hear them even when he reached the living room; it sounded as if they were actually getting louder. Don couldn't bare to hear Charlie's name as it rolled off Colby's tongue into a scream Don once thought only he could achieve.
He had to stop to collect himself, to reassure himself that this wasn't some bad dream he was having, but after one look of the living room, his mind filled in the pieces and told him the story of how that night had played out, with it also reminding him of the reality of the moment he was in now.
“Charlie!” Colby's voice rang out through the house and into Don's head.
That was it-Don left the room in a fog, unable and unwilling to listen to the voices coming from above.
