Well, I finally have something worthwhile to write about -
Flight has been booked for the UK; I leave on the 17th of May. I've put the first part of my application for a Youth Mobility Visa through, so now I have an appointment on Wednesday to give fingerprints and mug shot digital photograph for the application in the only place in Auckland you're allowed to have them done (yes, there's only one place in Auckland you're allowed to give these, on top of the fact that they've closed the Wellington office so ALL applications for UK visas have to be sent to Canberra. Sounds like a smooth operation). I'm only a 3rd way though this visa application process and they've already got me well trained up to becoming accustomed to British Bureaucracy (note to self: do not call people at the place Vogons. May result in visa application being thrown out).
The 17th of May is fast approaching - 11 weeks away! - and I feel like there is so much to do. The thought of having to go through all mys tuff and toss loads of it out (I've inherited my father's love of hoarding anything and everything :$) is frankly quite scary, but hopefully if I get onto it nice and early and do a little bit at a time, it will all get done. Hopefully being the key word in that sentence.
It's weird this time around - when I went to Dublin I booked my flight 6 months in advance, I saved like crazy, and I knew I was going over by myself so I was proper prepared. This time around I am going to see my sister, there's a new nephew arriving a few days after we get there, and even in the buzzword current economic climate (oh how that phrase irritates me) I have job options and even a room if I want it. It's so much different to how I prepared going to Dublin it's crazy - I went to Dublin not knowing anyone; this time I'm flying with my mum and almost my whole family will be in London at the same time.
It's going to be a crazy next almost 3 months, but at least I have something to look foward to! As it happens a few things to look foward to - going to London, my nephew being born, Kasabian gig on June 21st and
Oxegen on July 9 - 12th. Yay!
