My mum just bought a GPS Car navigator recently. Actually I don't think she really needs it as she knows Singapore roads pretty well (at least much better than me). The set costs $499 in the market but I managed to get it at a much better price, thanks to my uncle who owns a electronic shop...haha. Anyway the same set is going for $488 in the ( Read more... )

Yeah, so many brands and so many models, it is not easy. But as long as you need erp and speed camera warning, many models will be out.

You can go take a look at the Package Bell GPS-COMPASSEO-600 at Sitex (Sunday last day). I think they are selling it for $599 if I remember correctly. This price is only available at Sitex. Normally will be $788 (and $988 when it first launched).

I went to the booth on Thursday but the promoter says there's no erp and speed cam warning (the promoter seems quite blur so I'm not sure whether to trust him or not). But it is clearly stated in hardwarezone that the 2 features are included in this model. So you better triple confirm with them if you decided to get this model.

One bad point about this model is it looks like a toy. So you better add looks-n-feel factor in your consideration. Try out the set on the spot to feel the user-friendliness as well, I haven't got the chance to try it so I can't really comment on that.

Regardless of which model you get, a lot of fine-tuning (configurations e.g. fastest route or shortest route) will be needed before it will work optimally to your needs (but it will never be perfect). So be mentally prepared for it :)

Oh I think I better add on, when I say the erp and speed camera features are included, I meant they should be already embedded in the map that comes together with the GPS set. Not the ability to allow user to manually enter it only.

Hope this helps :)
