The new protocol

The meeting this afternoon with my oncologist went rather well. He spent most of our consultation explaining the new chemotherapy protocol that I will begin on Monday. This new treatment is in pill form so I'll be able to take it at home. The side effects are of the usual caliber: nausea, throwing up, drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, head aches, ( Read more... )

I love the fact that when i look at one of your posts I can picture you. *smiles*

I can't actually walk anymore without crying. It's quite pathetic actually. Maman (Froggy's mum) arrived this morning and I was in tears when I finally made it to the door to let her in. Papa has sciatica problems so she's familiar with what I'm dealing with. She's also a volunteer (local Red Cross organisation) so she knows just what to do. For instance, whereas Froggy and I had been applying my hot water bottle and putting me in a hot bath to relieve the pain, she took a ice block from the fridge, wrapped it in a towel and applied it to my thigh and WOW the pain is gone!

I've also called the hospital to find out what I can do - not moving is not something I do very well.

So far no side effects from the new chemo treatment but there again, would I really notice them whilst squirming about because of the sciatica....

In any event it is very, very good to be at home. I can pull my jogging pants down and apply the ice block to my left cheek and thigh without wondering who's looking at me. :p

Ha! Boe is my real name. Actually Boe Luen is my middle name.

With stronger pain killers and an anti-inflammatory pill - plus the ice packs, the pain should subside, according to my oncologist, in approximately a week. I truly hope so.

I'm really lucky that maman is here. At least Froggy isn't doing his nut at work worrying how I am. And she's a fantastic knitter so methinks we'll finally be starting the Amélie's blanket project the ninny in me has not had the guts to begin.

Thank you for the hugs, support and the icon! *winks*
