Making a mess

So I sat down to take a break from painting and I start reading through the LJs. I came across piccolopirate who seems to be having an ink issue. I started responding and three paragraphs later I thought - hmmm maybe this is more appropriate in your own LJ. So after finishing up some quick ink removal advice I began relating my morning mess which goes as follows:
I'm working with paint at the moment - trying to get Humpty ready for when mum arrives on Sunday. I had just painted his cap bright red when realised that I couldn't for the life of me open the white spirit. At first I listened by the front door and opened it when I heard someone in the hallway (no luck though it was a little old lady not a hulking Hercules).
Then I phoned Froggy to ask if we had another bottle - he said yes but he didn't know where it was... maybe in the garage.... Well it's really cold here so I wanted a solution that didn't include me going outside. Think think think.
Then I remembered that this morning I heard the young man with the banshee hairdo who lives under our bedroom playing guitar.... He's not Hercules but he's a strapping lad and would certainly be able to open the bottle for me. So I threw on my pink converse and popped downstairs and low and behold he was there with two friends (thank goodness). He didn't manage to get the bottle open but one of his friends did. Saved!!!
So I managed to free my paintbrush of red paint and the little yogurt cup thing that I was using to hold the white spirit was full of blood looking stuff. So then I wondered what I was going to do with it.... That stuff can't go down the drain it's dangerous.... So now I have a giant Contrex water bottle with a blood-like substance at the bottom of it. Oh yeah I found out that if you leave white spirit out in the open it just evaporates. And why are the white spirit containers such crap when it comes to pouring the stuff out? I'm making a real mess today but Humpty looks really cute. When I'm done I'll pop a pic up here.
OK back to the paint!
