Joe's 21st
Today is rainfletcher's brother Joe's 21st birthday. Juanell organized a birthday lunch at Souplantation with a bunch of people.
Corie's cousin was there with her little girl, two months older than Maggie. The little girls were shy at first but were soon "chatting" cheerfully about the flowers on Maggie's dress and the balloons a couple of stores down. Tres cute.
Mary H. gave Joe a bunch of balloons with the comment, "I had to carry these in, but you have to carry them out." Her wicked plan was thwarted when Maggie snaked the balloons! Luckily, Joe was perfectly fine with letting her have them.
Missy mentioned that Andrew and Mitchell are hoping that my baby is a boy, so that their generation can get a bit more balanced gender-wise (currently: 2 boys, 7 girls). I pointed out that a second girl would be more convenient for us, since we only have the two bedrooms, and Missy said it's for sure a boy in that case. Hee hee.
Maggie was traumatized by the singing of "Happy Birthday." I dunno why that is--she's not bothered by hymns, or music on the radio or whatever. Fear of a capella? Who knows.
