Yay-roupe!

I leave for Europe in a scant 6 days.

and I hardly even have an itinerary planned! I'm a little scared.

What little that has been planned is thus: Huw and I are flying out to Frankfurt on the 7th. We have 6 days of travel throughout four countries(/regions) of our choice (that is, 6 24 hour periods where we have free reign of the railways!), and those four countries(/regions) are Germany, Austria, France and Benelux.

We're actually not entirely sure what we even plan on doing yet. What we do know is that we're going to be staying in Frankfurt for a few nights to recuperate after the flight, then we're heading out to Munich (and probably dropping by somewhere like Rothenburg on the way) for about a week... then, well, probably to Vienna for a few days, then somewhere else in Austria for some skiing, and we'll gradually work our way around until we feel like making our merry way to London, which I'd like to get to on the 5th of December but there's not really any guarantee that it'll be happening. We're playing it pretty loosely; we'll definitely get to London, I just don't know how long we'll actually be there. Perhaps too loosely, but we still shouldn't have any major dramas. Then I'm heading back to Oz on the 12th of December with a thoroughly drained bank account, whereupon I will whore myself out to The Duxton for a few months before returning to uni next year.

I know I haven't been updating recently. That's mostly because the new house I'm in has a much more social environment than past places, and I'm rarely left alone with the computer. Hell, Huw's standing over me right now, wearing nothing but a towel and instructing my every keystroke. These are the perils I must contend with!

Anyway! Best we move on. I'm planning on taking this here laptop that I'm typing on with me on my travels. It won't be the end of the world if I lose it, and it'll give me a secure point from which to do all my Internet Bankings, and also somewhere from which to get my musings onto the Greater Internet. There'll be long stretches where I'll just be sitting around twiddling my opposable thumbs if I don't do a spot of journalling.

If anyone knows of any must-see places in the countries I specified earlier (France, Germany, Austria, Benelux) then let me know! We'll see if we can fit them in.
