i went to new hampshire this weekend for labor day. it was the best weekend i had up there this summer, except for when andrew and juliana came. everyone in my family was there, and pretty much everyone else who owned a camp was there too. it was the most crowded i've seen it for like 5 years. so saturday was the field games, and it was a fun time as usual. my cousins were in most of the races, which consisted of the egg on a spoon race, the potato sack race, the running race, the three-legged race, the softball throw and the relay race. i myself participated in the softball throw and the relay race. i came in second in the softball throw, and my team also got second for the relay race...out of two teams. see what happened was my relay team had like two less kids than the other one so we had the unfair advantage. so i was last in line for my team and this kid i know named marc was last for the other team. so it was my turn to go before the person in front of marc had even gone yet, so i waited for it to be marc's turn so we could race at the end, and as i expected, he beat me. but that's okay, because he's two years older than me and i knew i didn't have a chance. then there was the sawdust pile where all the kids jumped in and searched through the pile for money. i would have joined all the little kids, but a $.75 profit didn't seem enough of a reward to get covered in sawdust. after that was over we had a huge family barbecue, followed by massive amounts of dessert, and a card game to top it off. seven of us played. three of my older cousins, two of my uncles, my grandmother and myself. it was $20 to get in, and we played dealer's choice all night. i was out at one point, but i played the next hand on charity and won, bringing me back into the game. i ended up with $27.35, not bad after being down $20. i got up early the next morning and went home with my mom. i spent the entire day home on my recliner (we still haven't bought a couch) watching episode, after epsiode, after episode of the real world san diego. i must have seen at least 10 episodes. i am so cool. so after i got off my lazy ass i decided that it would be fun to go into cambridge to see donnie darko director's cut or garden state. so i called 17 different people 352392876 different times to make plans to go in town, and we ended up sitting at andrew's house for the night. it was a lot of fun. just like the old days.
and now i'm trying to take notes for one of my books and figure out how i'm going to manage to hang out with people on the last night of summer or see people tomorrow because i don't think i can but i really want to and it's the last day before school and they're busy and i'm stressing big time all because of fucking summer reading.
