Employer Who Must Not Be Named has decided to push back my redundancy a week. Well... decided is such a strong word. In fact all they did was realise I still have an open application for an internal position and the Deciding Manager is on holiday til after the Big Day. So, I have one more week of being paid and accrue another 1/2 day of holiday due to the magic of rounding.
I did ask what would happen if they just let me go and hired me back a week later. The short answer is, I would get some of the redundancy payout, but everyone would have to do loads of extra paperwork, and Inland Revenue would raise an eyebrow, and I'd lose paternity leave and a few other things. And that's the short answer.
I'm starting to have a bit more luck with other jobs. Interview yesterday went rather well. Enough that they called today to have me back for a second. It could be up to a 15% raise, which is nice, but when I think about the parent company, I really cringe.
A couple of other companies called today. No interviews set up, but at least I won't feel bad about taking a week off from the job hunt. Next week I will concentrate on my upcoming Birthday and just coast otherwise. I can worry about jobs again when I'm older and slightly wiser.
