FORTRAN was the first computer language I ever learned (back in the mid '60s). I'll never forget lugging those 80 column IBM cards back and forth to the computer building in Ames, Iowa (The only place in town that was big enough to have it's own computer). Nor forget the disaster of dropping a stack of cards in the snow and trying to get them back in the right order and before any of them got wet.
