i didn't know what to say

Dec 27, 2004 23:47

maybe this will be it for the year. either way, i've got some time and i'm at the computer doing some other stuff already, so i'll indulge you. it won't be the first time i've indulged someone today. i don't mind, though. i think i sound dumb always trying to explain that, so i won't.

ok, as promised, here's my top-whatever list (not necessarily in order) of albums for 2004:
1) the good life album of the year
2) the thermals f***in' a
3) the secret machines now here is nowhere
4) castanets cathedral
5) the elected me first
6) franz ferdinand s/t
7) interpol antics
8) the arcade fire funeral
9) modest mouse good news for people who love bad news
10) sufjan stevens the seven swans
11) pinback summer in abaddon
12) the walkmen bows and arrows
honorable mention: jimmy eat world futures, wilco a ghost is born

i'm sure there's more that i enjoyed and i'm not sure why i didn't just make that a top 14 list instead of a top 12 with 2 honorable mention. whatever.

i won't get into movies that i really enjoyed, except to say that i saw the life aquatic tonight and thought it was really good. it was definitely better than i thought i'd be. i'm not much for hype and poor wes anderson seems to stay fed on a steady helping of hype. regardless, i think i might have liked this one better than his others. that might sound like heresy to some, but i can handle that.

today i bought these shoes on sale. yes, hell has frozen over. by the way, i got the 3rd color offering on that website. the color is called "blind faith". i have no idea what that means. i thought about getting these, and i just might still. sales are great.

wishlist: this and/or this (in black) and this (already on sale).

so everything seems to be going pretty well right now. thursday i will be heading up to nashville to attend the music city bowl. right now the plan is to spend new year's in nashville. it'll be the first time i "celebrate" new year's in a city other than birmingham since y2k when i had the fortune of being in miami, for an alabama bowl game, no less.

Christmas was nice. it was run-of-the-mill, but all was calm and all was bright, so i can't complain in the least. i got nice presents, including some clothes, cds, dvds and one of the ridiculous 60GB iPods. if you were wondering what had me stuck at the computer right now, you might now know. as cool as the iPod is, it is still a hassle to load all these songs from cds onto it. oh well, there are greater tragedies on earth.

congratulations, eric and kerri.
