The H2: Still Not Worth It.

I guess you can blame it on the price of gas recently, but the sticker price on an H2 is now below $30,000. A decently-equipped H2 sells for about $28.5K at a local dealership where only months before, the same specs on it might've cost about $31K. Before you think that's a good deal, realize that the $2,500 you think you're saving will just finance the gas for the gas-guzzling road beast for about a month. Seriously.
Despite the massive gas demands, there are lunatics who are still driving these 9-mile per gallon behemoths. I was driving around the town in my dad's car and pulled into a Mobil station offering 2.96/gallon of regular unleaded. All the pumps were busy, so I waited for one to be free. The first one to drive away was this new black Hummer. I drove in and saw that this guy had just paid $93.57 to fill his car. Holy. Schneiky. I can't fathom paying that much at one pit stop. Compared to that, the $34.17 it took to fill the tank of my dad's '02 Pontiac Grand Am looked like a discount.

I did a bit of research on car sales in the last month. And I found that since the massive inflation on gas prices, hybrid cars like Honda and Volvo's models have had a pretty noticable increase in sales. It's then that I formed the fact that this gas gouging might be a conspiracy by Honda and Volvo as a way for them to sell more of their high output yet ugly hybrid cars, while sabotaging the Hummer corporation in the process. Naturally, everyone scoffed at the idea. But is it so scoffable? I mean... Hybrid sales up. H2 sales down. Hmmm. I think I should inform someone of my findings.

I'm hating how people suddenly think that we're getting a good deal on gas now. Some random news anchor the other day said that gas prices were getting back to normal. ... What country is she living in? The last time I checked, it was still just barely below the $3.00 mark. That isn't "back to normal". Not even close. Anything over $2.00 is a fucking rip off. Fuck, anything over $1.75 is a rip off. Just because the price isn't as high as it could be or once was doesn't mean that it's all of a sudden a bargain now.

Just sayin'.
