Neon Orange Paste

Well, hi again.

So! I’ve got a few gigs taken up my a few hundred eBooks which does not have any sort of…order or organization. I was tempted to use Good Reads as my cataloging system, and I manage about two books before I gave up. It was too damn tedious and a whole lot of confusion right off the bat. After a brain-drain fight against the GR system, I came out top. But if I have to work so damn hard to add just two books, it’s not worth the effort. (I admit, I’m lazy.)

But looks like I was walking along salvation street when I came across Calibre. It’s a freeware program for eBook management. I’ve added 23 books in the last few hours and it’s pretty good! It pulls all the meta-data associated with the book from ISBNdb and/or Google Books. So things like rating, tags and all that just automatically gets in and I don’t do jack shit. But I’m real anal about details so I have to manually edit a few things, but really. If you need an eBook management system, I swear by Calibre (at the moment).

Skipping to next topic, I’m 21 but my eyesight is like your grandparents. Long-sighted. Oh yes, I’ve been long-sighted since…probably 16. You don’t get many people that young with long-sighted problems. Mine isn’t so bad that my glasses magnifies my eyes…it’s just…kind of mild.

So, I was viewing some internet page just now and I couldn’t help but just love how the text was set out. An example…

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.

When I saw that, my eyes cried pseudo-tears of joy. The font size is large enough but still decent, the line height increases readability for me. Believe it or not, that’s a line break between the lines, not a paragraph break. The whole page was set out like that and it still looked damn good. I admit that the current font size I use for Teacup is way too small for myself…but it looked good!

I’ve been trying to incorporate larger fonts in my next layout and it’s…kind of coming along. Let’s hope I can do it justice.

And just so you know, my glasses aren’t old looking! Hah! Take a look!

Yeah, that’s neon orange at the side! Mua ha ha!
