My brother and I were talking about art today and that got me thinking about the kind of art I like. I'm definitely way more into photography than paintings. Whatever painting I am into I think I like it when it's more contemporary. Don't get me wrong, I adore classical painting but I'd never own anything like it, y'know? The idea of classical painting is beautiful but practically it doesn't do it for me. When Deanna and I were in Sun Valley we went to the Arts & Crafts fair there and there were some really fantastic photographers.
This lady does these really whimsical photographs which I think are really cool. The ones with the guys reading the paper on the coffee cup are probably my favorites.
This artist is a guy who I fell in love with while I was living in Vegas and is really one of the only non-photographic artists I like. I don't like him because of the people he draws but how he draws them. Unfortunately his website doesn't have larger photos yet because the way he does people's eyes are stunning. My two favorites are the Madonna 5th from the bottom right with the blue accents and the Jennifer Lopez with the yellow accents above the center of the Al Pacino/Robert DeNiro ones.
And finally,
this photographer does probably some of the most beautiful work I've ever seen. I usually tend to lean towards landscape photography because I find people to be really unasthetic for some reason. But the people in her photographs are so insanely beautiful I couldn't help but fall in love, and the colors are so unbelievably rich.
Alas, someday I might be able to afford beautiful art, but today is not that day.
