Kuja's relationship with Garland - "I wonder what happened with kuja and garland."

I deliberately left it vague because I'd rather the reader (and Zidane) fill in what could've happened with their own imagination... That said, in future chapters I might have Kuja reveal more specific details once he tries to open up to Zidane a bit more.

Zidane realizing how much he's hurt Kuja - "I like that - no matter how much Zidane hoped otherwise - Kuja's reluctant return to consciousness, hasn't magically solved anything in terms of Kuja's emotional turmoil and their relationship. The most hopeful part is that Zidane finally understands the enormity of the problem. For the first time in his life, Kuja trusted and depended on someone else, and when Zidane didn't come back as promised that just shattered Kuja to an extent that is only now becoming clear."

He's slow and dense, but even Zidane isn't so thickheaded that he can't see that Kuja's suffering from more than just his physical wounds. His bruises will heal. His trust isn't something that can simply be bandaged over.

Zidane's not sure how to handle things yet, which is why he's trying to be as nice and patient as possible, but I don't know if he realizes yet just how deep this wound goes.

Kuja's pessimism - "Anyway, Kuja is really pessimistic, huh? Well with his life, I can't blame him"

Yeah Kuja is really pessimistic because let's face it, he hasn't had a lot of good things happen in his life, but that's why Zidane's a good counterpoint to him - Zidane's too optimistic. I think if they can learn to balance each other out, they'll have a really good thing going.

Kuja wanting to believe in Zidane - "I love how Kuja is still trying to act tough while it's obvious he still WANTS to believe and/or trust in Zidane, despite all that happened."

Kuja really does want to believe in Zidane (and he's correct in that he really has no choice, if he wants to survive), but he feels so betrayed (and doesn't understand it) that this is understandably a huge struggle for him. It was never Zidane's intent to abandon him but for all intents and purposes, that's what happened. I think most people would find it difficult to forgive something like that, nevermind someone like Kuja, who has little to no experience with trust and friendship.
