Everyone's been posting dreams of late, and last night I had a doozy. It was very Betrayal at House on the Hill-esque. Also, just for the Q readers The General made a camio. :)

So anyway, I'm driving along a two-lane highway through a small town. I go down a small hill and start up the other side of the valley which is steeper but I take my foot off the gas and then have to stop because The General (the Dukes of Hazard car for non-Q-readers) is parked in a driveway with the hood blocking off my lane. If it's not the General then it was the same model of car but without the decals. I'm a little unclear on that point, almost like it was fluctuating.

I'm about to pull around it and go on when an officer from the police station which is two or three buildings behind me off the right side of the road calls for me to pull off. It's nighttime and the town is a bit dark and creepy. I back down the hill a little bit and pull off into the first driveway behind me. I get out of the car and there's someone there talking to me. It's the person who lives in the house. The person is familiar to me, but I can't tell who they are, how old they are, or even whether it's a man or woman.

I start walking toward the police station when someone cries out from the woods behind the houses. The crier is close enough that me, the familiar person, and two cops start running toward the sound, but we all stop just short of the edge of the woods because the hillside drops off very steeply. The cries stop and we all edge back toward the police station.

The station is basically an old-style house that's been converted for police use. I'm not sure how many people were there, but it was at least five and no more than fifteen. Most of the people are working in one room on the ground floor. The house was two stories from the outside, but I never saw the stairs. Anyway, I wander into the next room over. It's mostly dark and connnected to the other room with a screen door. Some of the furniture is covered in dust sheets. I think it also had a screen door on the far side leading out of the room.

Just then something buzzes me in the dark. It's a birdlike flash similar to something you might see in Resident Evil. I make a sound and the familiar person starts to open the door but I tell him/her not to. I grab a sheet off the couch and try to trap the shape as it buzzes me again. After the second or third try I succeed and bring it back into the main room.

It's a raven. Suddenly my father is one of the policemen. I don't remember him being one of them before which is why I say suddenly. He walks over to me as I'm gripping the bird's head in one hand and body in the other. As I start to twist it o break the neck he says something about if I kill him something new will be born. I got the impression that it was something worse or evil. I also get the impression that the bird is him. I'm intent on my task though.

I have to twist the head nearly off before it dies. The instant it stops struggling though a beak pushes out of the throat. A whole new bird quickly pulls itself free from the neckhole. The familiar person resolves into a female and starts cleaning the new bird off, acting very motherly. I was about to say something or something else was about to happen when I was woke up by my alarm.

Oddly I did not find any part of the dream particularly alarming. It was suspenseful, but not alarming. Kind of like watching a movie although I'm not saying that it looked like a movie in the dream. It looked real. So anyway, who wants to play fucked up dream interpreter?
