I believe Stranger Than Fiction was an excellent film to present to the class, as it required you to wonder, think, and analyze every aspect of the story. It was filled with humor, fantasy, and drama that kept the viewer captivated and intrigued through the entire plot. However, I also think the film, Inception, would be a great option. It definitely is of literary merit and contains a universal meaning throughout the entire film. It is about Dom Cobb, who leads a team that steals secrets from people’s minds by entering into their dreams. When they are all hired by a man, Cobb finally can prove and redeem himself, but not before they accomplish something impossible. They must create inception: planting seeds of a completely new idea. The plot of Inception is quite complex and magnificent and not only focuses on the emotional journey of Cobb, but also the action-packed journey of the team. The audience is continuously challenged to keep up with the story and leads the audience to a second view, just to fully understand the meaning. The actors are unique and impressive, including such people as Leonardo Dicaprio, Joseph Levitt, and Ellen Page. The film is extremely complex, diving into the subconscious of the human’s mind. It is very emotional, technical, visual, and action-packed and keeps the audience on the edges of their seats because of the complexity and heart-wrenching and heart-pounding ideas. It is an award-winning film that would capture student’s attention and challenge them to analyze the theme.
