On Can games be considered art?

my dad's an artist. and many people would label me a hardcore gamer. i play the piano too, but not very well. after reading this art-icle, what intrigues me is not so much whether games can/should be considered as art, but rather, why 'gamers' are so outraged by a single film critic's opinion.
