Lost. What else?

Thoughts. I appologize to those of you who don't watch it, you'll find this entry awfully boring!

Well, I started to like Shannon, of course. Turns out she was a ballet dancer, whose father died leaving her with no one on her side. It seems Boone may have been less supportive than we thought. It takes a lot of insensitivity to take a huge handout from Mom when she cuts off your sister out of pure malice. Shannon was 18, of course, she changed her mind frequently about what she wanted to do. But most parents would have killed for the kid to get a prestigous internship. And she was obviously teaching ballet, so she obviously spent some of her day out of bed. It seems Mr. Rutherford had the bad luck to get ignored at the hospital and assume that his wife would bother to support his child with his own money.

Although I think it is a shame they kind of wasted Shannon's character since Boone's death and then fleshed her out only to kill her. It was great episode, and the revelations about Shannon made, and Sayid's declaration of love made her death an emotional pay off. Now that it's over though, I still can't bring myself to care too much about her loss, since I only started appreciating the character about half an hour ago. This is nothing like when they hung Charlie, or if they'd killed off Claire or Locke or Hurley or Sawyer.

When Libby said something about kids, I thought "ah ha. That's who that kid with the teddy bear was. They took kids from the tail section too."

So if it's not Shannon's craziness or psychic ability that made her see Walt, since Sayid saw it too, what the hell is it? Some mystical appearance? It's not the real Walt, unless he's been won over to the "other" side, and was trying to lure someone (Shannon)into danger.

I don't see how anyone could think Anna Lucia is a "monster" though (stupid Kristin on E!). It was obviously a tragic accident. Much less "monstery" than what Locke did to Boone for God's sake. Of course, Sayid's gonna go all crazy torture on her anyway though.

All in all an excellent episode. As much as I think Shannon was too easy a choice considering Boone, the writing on this was really, really strong. Maggie proved she can really act (lets hope she finds work) and the look on Sayid's face at the end had my heart breaking. Also, Claire's look after Charlie chided her pretty much said "who decided you're my husband now?". Charlie, I know you adore Claire, but generally it's good idea to consult your love interest before you decide you're going to act as her baby's daddy.
