If ANYBODY on my f-list knows of an effective way of eliminating a whole colony of oversized black ants from the core of their underground base---the whereabouts of which are unknown at this time---please share

They've invaded your house? Call an exterminator. When I lived on the first floor, my neighbour had ants crawling all over their front steps. All they did was mostly pour boiling hot water over that area and.. then I moved so I had no idea what happened. But I think it might temporarily work. Finding the base would help lots. D:
I'm starting to think this will end with us calling in a professional D= We've managed to live with them for YEARS, but yeah. This is just ICKY. And I have no idea where the damn colony is. I know an entrance or two, but that's about it. x__x;
Call some pro soon! You don't want to wait until they've spawned out to more than one colony or to the point where they're crawling in your clothes and bedsheets. At night. When you're sleeping. In your mouth.
I had this problem a month and a half ago, but it was only in a corner of a single room. Used those little traps were they take the food back to the nest so it kills them all. Also used a vaccuum after filling a vaccum bag with poison. Now they're all dead, so it is possible to, uh, survive.
Actually, this seems to be an increasingly common problem this year. :/
The buggers are going everywhere now. D= They're invading much further than they had when they first appeared like, 5 or 6 years ago. We've tried laying those trap things you're talking about, but they just ignore them. Stupid ants are damned smart buggers. >_o;
