An Open Letter to the National League West
Dear National League West,
It's official: your entire division has entered the All-Star Break below .500. Last year you had a Division Champion and the top two contenders for the Wild Card. This year, Arizona, you're in first place despite the fact that if you were in the NL Central, you'd be 10 games back. Even if the Rockies end up the beneficiaries of the generally poor play of these five teams, if no one has managed a winning record by the end of August, I will begin making calls to Bud Selig urging him to take away the division's playoff berth and turn it into a second Wild Card spot. And San Diego, we're sending you down to Triple-A. All of you.
You're on notice. Shape up.
