Almost 2 weeks ago, Chris' ankle started hurting. He didn't tell me about it but I saw it on Wednesday and it was all hot and red. He said he didn't want to worry me. I said, "Are you dumb? I work for an orthopedic surgeon at a hospital that gives elective surgery to the indigent." The next day I asked my PA about Chris and she wrote 2 Abx that are free at Publix. We began the process for "Nashville Indigent" insurance. Basically you prove that you don't have any money, but you do have bills, and they evaluate you and maybe you get insurance. Chris was approved on Wednesday and the Dr says surgery next Tuesday. Hopefully it's just a superficial infection, not in the bone, and he won't need IV antibiotics.
So that kind of sucks, but we are fortunate to have all these resources available, and as an atheist-leaning agnostic, it is hard NOT to believe someone else isn't taking care of us.
In other news, I have started my garden. I want a million kinds of basil and other herbs too. Yesterday I bought dirt and a few plants and a bunch of seeds and had a great time. Today I'd like to get more dirt and a lavender and a rosemary bush. I hope it all grows and I get a pretty garden.
Also they have decided to send me back to the VA for my next rotation with Allison, my buddy from school and I am totally excited and this will be the best rotation ever!!
rotation,
