so i will appease his needs. it seems like the only time i write in this anymore is when someone wants me to. i just feel like nothing really happens.
let's see...
i went to beach week. let's start the trip off in the airport. my flight to california started at 6:50 pm. the boise airport was dead (not suprised)and i was stressed out (not suprised). the poeple at the united check in didn't know my gate, which i was not used to. the people at Delta always give you your gate. so i wandered over to the screens that tell you your flight and headed to my gate. to my suprise i joined only 8 more people for my flight in to San Fransico. when we arrived, i was greeted by a freezing airport, screaming babies, and lots and lots of asian people. the good part about the San Fran airport was the gate i was at was surrounded by windows, so i watched a read and orange sun dip below the clouds, and tried to ignore the crying children around me. i finally arrived in Ontario at 11:45 pm, and was starving. i was really counting on the 8 pretzles i was going to get on the plane.... but they were never served! *sigh* Rico picked me up and wisked me to a denny's. as we were driving along the freeway (relativly traffic free) i pointed out a near by Denny's and was told that we would be shot, or robbed.... or both if we ate there. i am still not accoustomed to Southern California mentality. we pulled in to an acceptable Denny's, and opened the door to a line to the cash registers and frazzeled employees. it took 20 mins, and a slight altercation to get seated, then another 20 mins for food. by that time i was so tired and hungry i was delerious. we ate, went home and went to bed.
the next morning we headed to carlsbad state beach to set up and start beach week. as we arrived to the beach, we noticed there was no parking, and we began the parking lot looop. after 3 times we found a spot, changed and headed on to the beach. after an hour or two we headed up to camp to set up. i hate the set up and take down of camping. i really do. but it went quickly.
the rest of the days were spent boogie boarding, cooking on the sand (only me) and general beach activities. the stand out points are as follows:
a stupid dog tried to bite me. it was all cute, as it trotted over to see us. i slowly reached my hand down so he could sniff it. as my hand reached an inch away from his face he started barking and running, while snapping at my heels! i screamed and ran away, Rico laughed, and pretended that he wasn't. the rest of the week i yelled at the dog every chance i got. stupid dog.
I got stung by a jelly fish. and by jelly fish, i mean a piece of jellyfish, which got sucked under my rash gaurd. it felt like a bee sting that spread out over my back. i whimpered, rico laughed and pretended that he wasn't. the life gaured sprayed me with vinegar ( a bit excessivly, if you ask me) amd i was on my way.
i finally went out into the big waves... on the 2 days where there were no waves. good for me.
on the thursday of that week Rico took me to see the USS Midway, a navel ship in WWII. it was pretty cool to walk on a war ship, and see how everything worked. our next stop was little italy in San Diego. it was a little disapointing. i think San Diego got little italy confused with Normal Downtown. the only italian thing i saw was a cafe, and Rico. we stopped in a coffee shop, got some drinks and continued in the heat. we found our way to the Whaley house, a old family home that is now haunted (on the history channel). Old Town San Diego was really interesting. i love old buildings, and history that you can walk in. that was probably my favorite part of that day.
all in all it was a good week on the beach. i had a great time, and i loved spending time with Rico. it's amazing how much i miss him when he is gone.
on a completely different note... I made a friend! haha. i know this is a wierd exclaimation, but i rarely, if ever, make new friends. and i even took the inititive and asked him to hang out with me, instead of waiting for him to ask... which usually never happens. i met him at the bookstore. i love working there. there are so many great people. i laugh all day long, and i have met some really great people. i hope i get to see them when i get back from school.
summer's almost over, and i don't think i am ready for school to start. but after reading this, it seems that i need to get back. my writing has suffered a little bit. i'm excited to live with Katie and Big Chris! i am also excited, and a bit terrified, to graduate in one semeter. i hope that i find a good job, or a job at all, in my field, and i hope i do well at it. that is my wish for the future. i hope it comes true.
until the next request, Katie out.
