PLOT
Raphel is a Pasho or learned man who has been educated in Keli. He returns to his home, where he comes into conflict with his grandfather, a past military leader who razed Keli and other places, and talks of doing it again to stop the Jai and Keli becoming more alike.
Raphel doesn't want his people to slaughter the Keli and undo all the Pasho works, so he poisons his grandfather when he is drinking with him, via the Mez drink. He is then free to make technological progress in Jai lands, too.
