Anybody with a television (or internet access) knows about the huge ice storm that pounded the midwest over the weekend. Here's what happened in my neck of the woods (northeast Missouri):
We got lucky. We got sleet, which didn't stick to the power lines or tree limbs. However, we got three inches of it, which melted just a little when it hit the warm ground, then refroze when the temperature dipped into the single digits. So now we have a couple inches of solid ice on the ground, and it's a real mess, especially during the day when the sun melts just a little off the top and makes it zero-friction. Not good for walking, believe me.
All the roads are in good shape, but private driveways are quite treacherous, as I learned today. I had to be pulled out of a customer's driveway today, which was quite humiliating.
I can't wait for spring...
