An early Easter...

Earlier this week I learned my brother would not be able to make it back to Yorkville for Easter. Instead he was coming up this weekend. So I also made the trip down (Laura had to work all weekend so she couldn't come). Luckily it was all worth it as I had a good weekend.

Friday night was spent with a few of my friends. Some were currently out in California but I was able to hang out with Ted and Tokyo, both of whom I haven't seen since sometime before Thanksgiving.

Saturday was spent with the family. My mom still enjoys having all of her children home and we still do almost the same exact events that we've been doing since we were children (For the record: I'm 25, my brother is 22, and my sister is 20.) For the first event my mom puts little poems on index cards that lead us through the house to our Easter baskets full of candy.

The second event is a hunt for chocolate Easter eggs in the basement. A total of 90 is hidden throughout the main room. We have a competition to find our entire third of 30. This year my brother crushed us by finding 30 very quickly while my sister and I lagged behind. Then my sister found her last few while I still only had 28. I really got beaten bad this year, but I've never been very good at the hunt.

It was good to be together as a family for "Easter" again. Last year my brother was in China so we didn't do anything. With me eventually planning on moving to California, Kelly studying abroad in Italy next spring, and my brother wanting to travel the world, the chances of having us together like this grows slimmer. I knew it meant a lot to my mother this year with her job loss (she's still working temporarily but they've moved her to some little cubby hole).

Then in the evening I hung out with my brother and his friends. I beat everyone at Trivial Pursuit. Today I woke up, ate, visited my grandparents, and drove up back to Rockford. Another week awaits.
